The Radisson Martinique on Broadway, Manhattan's oldest operating hotel, celebrated it's 100th Anniversary in 2007. The Hotel Martinique was originally built between 1897 and 1907, as three connecting buildings surrounding an inner courtyard above the second floor. The neighbor at that time was home to many upscale hotels. The original Waldof Astoria was located where the Empire State Building is nos located.

A major work of the prominent designer Henry J. Hardenbergh. Developer William R.H. Martin, who had invested heavily in real estate in this area of the city, built and expanded the hotel in response to the grwth of entertainment, shopping, and transportation activitiies in the busy midtown section.
